IT’S NEVER TOO EARLY to teach children about the love that Jesus has for each of them.  It’s our desire that each child will learn God’s Word for their lives and respond to it in love, faith, and obedience, and by reaching out to their friends.  Sunday School missions include support of a child in Africa, Operation Christmas Child, the Deacons’ food closet, and One Great Hour of Sharing.

Sunday School meets 40 Sundays a year (Sunday after Labor Day through mid-June).  On the 40th week, Family Day is celebrated with a classroom open house, program, awards, and a church-wide picnic.  Children’s Classes are:

      Infant Nursery                                    Room 107
       2- & 3-Year Olds                               Room 105
      4-Yr Olds & Kindergarten                Room 206
      Grades 1 & 2                                       Room 204

      Grades 3 & 4                                       Room 205
      Grade 5 & Junior High 6*                Room 208

* Note that for Sunday School G5/JH6 are combined.  In the evening, G5 children attend 3-4-5 Alive! while JH6 youth move up to All Access (Youth Groups).

CHILDREN’S TIME,
CHILDREN’S CHURCH,
& SONbeam SINGERS

CHILDREN’S TIME:  During the Contemporary Worship Service (except on communion Sundays), children are invited to the front of the sanctuary for a special message just for them.

CHILDREN’S CHURCH:  Prior to the sermon at the Contemporary Worship Service, children ages 4 through Grade 2 move to the Nurture Building for a lesson, video, activity that is different from the Sunday School hour.

SONbeam SINGERS:  On second and third Sundays, September through May, Children’s Church is replaced by SONbeam Singers, a children’s music ministry that teaches the joy of singing to the Lord.  On the third Sunday of those months, the children sing at both worship services to the glory of God.

NURSERY CARE

During worship services, nursery care is available for children under age 4; and, during Sunday School, for children who were not age 2 by the past August 31.  Nursery and childcare are also provided for most special services (unless the children are participating)

IN THE SUMMER  . . .
Vacation
Bible School is a mid- summer highlight as 150-175 boys and girls from WCCPC, other churches, and the community at large join together for a week of learning and fun.

Bible lessons are taught in age-appropriate classrooms, but children move to centers for drama, music, crafts, recreation, and snacks.  Friday evening, everyone gathers outdoors for the closing program followed by lots of ice cream and toppings!

When:              Last full Mon.-Fri. week in July
    Time:                                9:00 a.m.-12:10 p.m.
   Ages:             3-1/2 through completed G5

Enrollment forms are available by mid-May at the church or on the website.

EXtra! EXtra! for Junior High youth having completed grades 6-8 is held on Monday-Thursday evenings of VBS week.  Bible lessons, games, snacks, a pool party, a mission project, and another event night make for a great week of learning, serving, and fun!  Many of those who participate also serve as morning VBS ministry helpers.

Summer Camp  at Black Rock Retreat Center, where quality counselors help campers grow in their relationships with Jesus, is promoted among those in grades 1-11 with literature, enrollment forms, and limited scholarships made available early each year.
